The Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies are independent members organizations dedicated to enhancing an enterprising spirit in rural areas and promoting good rural and urban living environments.
We have a long history of rural development in Sweden. The first Agricultural Society was established on the island of Gotland in 1791. In the years that followed, local Agricultural Societies were established all over the country. There are 18 local Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies today, we are represented in every county.
Fields of Activities
720 employees all over the country.
The Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies is entirely independent of all commercial, religious and political agreements. Nationally we have about 60 facilities, this includes facilities for research and demonstration, farms, fisheries, chemical stations and schools etc.
Every county's society has its own members. The members participate and shape the conditions for urban and rural life, and decide just how involved they want to be. We can offer a whole range of activities and perks, study visits, seminars based on a central theme and meetings. We have about 40.000 members
